Competition rules

The rules of the game are as follows:

  1. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  2. To enter this competition the entrant has to be a South African citizen, younger than 35 years old and a holder of a valid passport
  3. The entrant must have at least four years working experience in the short-term insurance industry, preferably a holder of a COP or equivalent qualification.
  4. The entrant must belong to a medical scheme.
  5. Individuals who believe they have what it takes can enter the competition directly. Employers can also nominate candidates to enter the competition.
  6. Before participants can be chosen, the promoter has the right to do a background, criminal and reference check on you. By entering this competition, you give the promoter the authority to this background, criminal and reference check.
  7. If you are chosen as one of the six participants, you will sign a contract to confirm your participation and you cannot detract once the contract is signed.
  8. If you are chosen as one of the six participants, you will agree to the use of your name and image of you in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without prior consent. The videos will be placed on The FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice website and Facebook pages as well as on the FAnews and The Insurance Apprentice Twitter platforms.
  9. The closing date for the entry is 30 September 2014. After this date, no further applications to the competition will be accepted.
  10. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason. It is your responsibility to confirm receipt.
  11. Employees of the promoter or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.
  12. The participant’s employer has to approve your application as the employer’s name will be mentioned.
  13. The participant’s employer will need to be aware of the fact that if the participant’s application is successful, filming will take place from the 12th to the 16th of January 2015 at the FNB Conference in Sandton, which means that the participant will not be in the office from the 12th to the 16th of January 2015.
  14. The participant’s employer will need to be aware of the fact that the winner, will be out of the office for another week to go to Lloyds of London. Dates to be confirmed
  15. The participants will stay over in accommodation as arranged by the promoter for the week.
  16. Travelling costs to interviews and to the FNB Conference Centre will be covered by the promoter.
  17. During the competition Wi-Fi will be available for the purposes of completing tasks.
  18. The participants will not be allowed to make personal calls during the day when tasks and filming are in progress.
  19. The participants have to be dressed appropriately during the filming process. Clothing is required to be decent business attire.
  20. If you are chosen as one of the six participants, it will be expected from you to show professional, respectful and controlled behavior during the week of filming, both on and off camera.
  21. If you are chosen as one of the six participants, you are not allowed to contact other companies or the media during or after the competition without prior approval from the promoter.
  22. The decisions of the Insurance Apprentice panel will be final, including but not limited to the eligibility of participants and the amendment of rules and competition details.
  23. If you are chosen as one of the six participants, you will not receive a salary or payment of any kind for the week from promoters or sponsors, while working at the competition.
  24. The promoter will have liability cover in place for all participants.
  25. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and the rules without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible, by the promoter.
  26. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
  27. No cash alternative to the prize will be offered. The prize is not transferable. The prize dates are subject to availability and we reserve the right to change the date as we find airplane tickets.
  28. The promoter may substitute the prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
  29. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  30. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to the promoter and not to any other party. By entering this competition, the entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
