Did you choose a career in insurance or did you fall into the industry like so many others? Briefly share your story.
I chose a career in insurance! I started off my tertiary studies with a general Bcom and instantly fell in love with insurance and pursued further studies in the field. It is a decision that I have never looked back on and the industry excites me as much today as it did when I first started.
Why did you choose to enter The Insurance Apprentice?
I chose to enter The Insurance Apprentice as I believe that I can use this platform to create value, to enable and facilitate knowledge transfer and to motivate and influence everyone to be better versions of themselves.
In your mind, what qualities should an ambassador of The Insurance Apprentice have?
I feel that the ambassador should be risk-taking, proactive and innovative. The ambassador should also harness an entrepreneurial flair and be selfless when it comes to paying in forward, influencing and creating good for the greater society.
Who has been the biggest influencer on your career and why?
There is no one specifically that has influenced my career. Everyone that I have met (good or not so good) has helped to shape and inspire me. I have learned from all of these individuals exactly what kind of leader I want to be; and more importantly, what kind of leader I do not want to be.
In a tweet of 140 characters explain why insurance ROCKS!!!
The insurance industry attracts the greatest people who represent what our industry stands for; not colleagues or friends, but FAMILY!
What would be your dream Apprentice task and why?
Any task that involves giving back, paying it forward and motivating and influencing people will be my dream task. This is why I am here, and this is what I want to do.
What song would you choose for your Insurance Apprentice victory dance and why?
Particular – Major Lazer & DJ Maphorisa. It is such a feel-good song with a South African theme!
A message to all the TIA sponsors?
Thank you so much for investing in the future! We will repay this tenfold and drive this beautiful and exciting industry forward to greater heights. None of this would be possible without you and we are truly appreciative for all that you have done.
How important is winning for you?
I would love to win The Insurance Apprentice, but personal victory has never really been something that concerned me too much. I am more about the team succeeding and creating value than personal victory.
Advice to yourself about what you should remember and focus on as you are going into the competition.
Remember why you entered. Remember what you want to do with this platform. Do it for everyone that believed in you; and for those that did not. Have lots and lots of fun and remember that integrity is a non-negotiable.
