  1. Why did you choose a career in insurance?
I was given an opportunity by an owner of a small brokerage; he believed that I had/have what it takes to make a mark in the industry. He believed that I can grow within the industry, so I took the opportunity. I chose to join the industry because I would learn something completely different to what I studied and because I saw growth.
  2. Who has been the biggest influence on your career and why?
Andy Jere-He introduced me to the industry and pushed me to study and get my Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) status. He told me to never stop learning. He is the one who told me to enter The Insurance Apprentice in 2014 even though I did not meet the minimum requirements. The faith he had in me was amazing. He saw potential in me that I did not see in myself.
  3. If you could have a secret mentor to help you in The Insurance Apprentice who would you choose and why? I would choose Andy Jere, he has so much knowledge of the insurance industry, it is unbelievable. He has taught me all that I know, and he believes in me so much. He would give me the motivation and guidance I would require in winning The Insurance Apprentice.
  4. In a tweet of 140 characters explain why insurance ROCKS!!!
Insurance rocks because you work with people. It is an industry that is for the people. It is fun, challenging and there is so much knowledge to gain and share. There are so many networking opportunities and opportunities to enter different areas of expertise. So, if you get tired of something, you can move to the next area and enjoy it just as much.
  5. What would be your dream Apprentice task and why?
To speak to Grade 11 pupils just before they choose their career path. I want them to know about the risk management industry and the amount of opportunities there are. Risk management is a well-respected profession just like Accountants, Doctors and Lawyers. It is also time that people, by choice, chose to be in the industry and not for them to fall in the industry by mistake/chance.
  6. What would be your nightmare Apprentice task and why?
Nothing insurance related gives me nightmares. As per my video, I am willing to take on any challenge without thinking twice.
  7. If you could have a super power that could help you win The Insurance Apprentice what would it be and why?
To be able to access my mind capacity 100% like in the movie “Lucy”. I would be able to know everything, answer and solve anything without a problem.
  8. What song would you chose for your Insurance Apprentice victory dance and why?
Eye of the Tiger-Besides the glorious beat, it celebrates a fight one had to go through and the challenges they had to face. And I just love dancing to it!
  9. Which celebrity would you like to have dinner with to celebrate winning The Insurance Apprentice? Why?
I would choose Somizi, after reading his book he has taught me never to give up on your dreams. That through hard work, patience and determination, anything is possible. He also just has an amazing personality. On that dinner date, I believe I would take on so much inspiration to keep on going and reach more of my dreams.
